Reflecting its expansion into two new regions, HBO Europe has restructured its senior original production team and promoted three executive producers to VP. The promotions recognize their achievements in drama series and documentaries and create wider areas of responsibility for the executive producers.

HBO Europe continues to lead the field in producing high quality television, creating original dramas and miniseries such as Burning Bush / Hořící keř, Wasteland / Pustina in the Czech Republic and The Pack / Wataha in Poland, using talented writers and directors from central and eastern Europe.

These programs have received critical and audience acclaim in their countries of origin and have gone on to achieve notable international recognition and sales.

HBO Europe original documentaries Toto and His Sisters (France Culture Award at the Cannes FF, and festival awards including Zurich, Sarajevo, Leipzig, and Warsaw) and Houston We Have a Problem (Tribeca FF, Toronto FF among others) continue to receive awards at leading film and documentary festivals around the world.

Johnathan Young is appointed VP, Original Programming and Production, HBO Central Europe and assumes responsibility for the central European teams in Warsaw, Prague, Budapest and Bucharest. Jonathan has previously executive produced the drama series Mammon / Mamon (Czech), The Pact / Pakt (Poland) and Silent Valley / Valea Muta (Romania); he is currently overseeing the second season of The Pack / Wataha in Poland.

Steve Matthews becomes VP and Executive Producer, Drama Development, HBO Europe, with a brief covering Central Europe, Nordic and Spain. His recent Executive Producing credits for HBO include Wasteland / Pustina (Czech) and Golden Life / Aranyelet (Hungary); he is currently overseeing Blinded by the Lights /Ślepnąc od świateł in Poland.

Hanka Kastelicova becomes VP and Executive Producer, Documentaries, HBO Europe reflecting the wide-ranging success of HBO Europe's documentary output under her leadership. The Polish documentary Communion has just received three nominations at the 2017 Polish Eagles, and she was recently awarded the prestigious Eurofipa D'Honneur in January at the 2017 FIPA festival.

The appointments became effective January 1st 2017 and report directly to Antony Root, EVP, Original Programming and Production, HBO Europe.
