TVN not worried by plans for limitation of foreign ownership of media in Poland
TVN Group is not concerned that government plans to limit the levels of foreign ownership in media companies will affect its operations. Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has been preparing, together with KRRiT and competition authority UOKiK, a strategy to limit media concentration since the beginning of this year. Those plans will impact most severely the press sector, which has a high level of German ownership.
TVN’s head Jim Samples commented for Forbes Polska that three of the four leading broadcasters in Poland – TVP, Polsat and TV Puls – are locally owned. TVN is owned by US’s Scripps Networks Interactive, which has already invested a considerable amount in the country and will continue to do so even if ownership restrictions are introduced. Samples also added that his company has no plans to sell its news channel TVN24. RELATED
