Canal+ shooting two original Polish series #MIPCOM

Canal+ Poland has commissioned two new original, Polish crime series directed by Maciej Pieprzyca and Leszek Dawid, with both shoots planned for October. Opus Film and Telemark are producing, Film New Europe reports.

Maciej Peprzyca will direct the series KRUK. Szepty słychać po zmroku (CROW. Whispers Heard After Dark), set in the Podlasie region and the city of Białystok. After a small boy is kidnapped Adam Kruk, a brilliant crime investigator, is summoned from Łódź to Białystok, where he grew up, to solve the case. When he gets there it turns out that he faces not only the crime, but also the dark side of his past.

The series, created by screenwriter Jakub Korolczuk, will be shot in October 2017 in the Podlasie region, produced by Piotr Dzięcioł and Łukasz Dzięcioł of Opus Film. The DoP is Jan Holoubek. The cast includes Michał Żurawski as Adam Kruk, Cezary Łukaszewicz, Katarzyna Wajda, Andrzej Zaborski and Anna Nehrebecka.

Leszek Dawid is directing Nielegalni (Illegals), based on the political spy novels written by Vincent V. Severski set in Warsaw, Istanbul, Stockholm and Minsk. The series was written by Dorota Jankojć-Poddębniak, Maciej Kubicki and Bartosz Staszczyszyn and is produced by Anna Kępińska and Maciej Kubicki of Telemark. The DoP is Piotr Sobociński jr. Grzegorz Damięcki plays the leading role with an all-star cast of popular Polish actors including Andrzej Seweryn, Sylwia Juszczak, Filip Pławiak, Agnieszka Grochowska, Adam Woronowicz and Tomasz Schuchardt.

The premiere dates of both shows have not yet been announced.
