 09 Apr 2019
Love in Chains (fka The Bondmaid) period drama became one of the headliners for Film.UA Group at the annual content market in Cannes. The local series premiere was broadcast from February 25 until March 14 on STB in primetime, and enjoyed enormous success and demonstrated record-breaking ratings.

The broadcaster became a slot leader for commercially active audience 18-54 (cities with population over 50K) and overtook the nearest competitor by 37%. Besides, the share of the series exceeded by two times the average daily and prime share of STB. During the whole broadcasting period the series was increasing its audience: the first episode had 12.4 per cent of viewers at the screen, and the last one, already 20.7 per cent. It is worth noting that Love in Chains also became the most popular March series in Ukraine for the last six years.

The series is set in late 1850s in Chernihiv province. According to the plot, bondmaid Katerina Verbitskaya was brought up like a noble lady by her godmother Anna Chervinskaya but for the whole world she is just the property of landlord Pyotr Chervinsky. Unaware of the girl’s origin, nobleman Alersey Kosach falls in love with Katerina. On the way to freedom and love the bondmaid will have to overcome numerous obstacles.

Love in Chains was filmed in iconic Ukrainian locations: historical and cultural monuments, open-air museums, palaces and mansion; the costumes were created by the best designers and artists.

The second season is coming this fall.
