Turkish drama is hot at #MIPTV
The Turkish distributors have kicked off MIPTV 2019 strongly with the announcement of several deals.
ATV Distribution announced that Kanal D Romania has acquired Hercai right after its third episode was aired in Turkey. Hercai is the new hit on Friday primetime in Turkey reaching 30% share, according to the distributor. Also, after Hercai's fourth episode release on YouTube, it was viewed more than 7.2 million times in 3 days. Kanal D Romania has already acquired ATV’s Love and Hate and Lifeline. Madd Entertainment also scored a deal in CEE with RTL Hungary picking their hit drama Crash. The deal was signed on the first day of the market. Inter Medya scored deals for Bitter Lands in Bosnia and Slovenia where it was picked up by Hayat TV and POP TV, respectively. Can Okan, founder and CEO of Inter Medya, said, “Bitter Lands is a very strong story about love, family and domestic violence. We are extremely happy and excited to see such great interest. We are proud to represent such a stunning title in the international market and we are confident that we will see Bitter Lands in many other countries in the near future.” And finally, Kanal D International launched its new premium drama Ruthless City by Avşar Film. Directed by Cevdet Mercan and written by successful writer Sırma Yanık, the successful drama’s first episode was watched by 6 million unique viewers in its first run and 21 million viewers in total from the re-runs within 7 days. This represents more than 36% of the total panel in Turkey. RELATED
