CEE broadcasters snap up 200+ hours from DRG
DRG announced a number of new deals in Central and Eastern Europe, which sees more than 200 hours of its scripted and factual content find homes with selected broadcasters in the region.
AMC Networks International Central Europe has taken more than 60 hours of factual content for its pan-regional footprint. The wide-ranging package includes titles such as A Royal Tour of the 20th Century (4 x 60), Meghan Markle: How to be Royal (1 x 60), Titans of the 20th Century (6 x 60), Jungle War (4 x 60), North Korea: Voices from the Secret State (1 x 60), Paul Hollywood’s City Bakes (13 x 30) and Rachel Khoo: My Swedish Kitchen (8 x 30). DRG has also concluded a pan-regional deal with Viasat World for two series of The Yorkshire Vet (16 hours) and Life on the Line Australia (6 x 30). Estonian ERR has proved a fan of Martin Clunes, acquiring series nine of the hit drama Doc Martin (8 x 60), as well as the critically acclaimed mini-series Manhunt (3 x 60). Based on a true story, Manhunt sees Clunes taking the lead role of a detective tracking down a high-profile serial killer. For its factual acquisitions, Estonian TV has a food focus with Rachel Khoo: My Swedish Kitchen (8 x 30) and Remarkable Places to Eat: The Insider’s Guide (4 x 60). Media Vivantis Zrt in Hungary has picked up motherhood dramedy Melk (10 x 30), along with both series of Black Widows (24 x 60), the award-winning, darkly humorous drama about three wives desperate to rid themselves of their husbands. Media Vivantis Zrt has also acquired Kate Middleton’s Wardrobe Secrets (1 x 60) exploring the Duchess of Cambridge’s clothing choices and the landmark social experiment series No More Boys and Girls: Can Our Kids go Gender Free? (2 x 60). Factual titles fronted by famous faces proved in demand in Croatia, with HRT acquiring David Jason’s Secret Service (3 x 60), Ardal’s Ireland (3 x 60), featuring comedian and Father Ted star Ardal O’Hanlon, and Martin Clunes’ Islands of America (4 x 60). In the Czech Republic, Prima has taken an unscripted package that include the latest three series (32 hours) of The Yorkshire Vet, plus Baby Animals Around the World (10 x 60), Baby Animals in the Wild (10 x 60) and history titles Blitzed: Nazis on Drugs (1 x 60) and Dynasties: The Families that Changed the World (4 x 60). DRG’s commercial director, Adam Barth, oversaw each of the deals; he comments: “From popular British and foreign language drama to modern history, wildlife and cookery titles, these new deals reflect the terrific breadth of the current DRG catalogue, as well as the caliber of those producers such as Buffalo Pictures and WildBear Entertainment, with which we have enduring partnerships. I am delighted that we continue to meet the requirements of key broadcasters across Central and Eastern Europe and look forward to developing these relationships further over time.” RELATED
