First international sequel of Betty La Fea will be produced in Poland
After the success of the Polish adaptation Yo soy Betty la Fea, produced by Fremantle for TVN Discovery in 2008 under the name Brzydula, RCN Television has closed an agreement with Fremantle to produce the first international sequel ever produced of the script of the series in the world for the broadcaster.
CEETV reported back in 2018 that TVN is considering producing a sequel under the title Brzydula 2. The first season told the story of the ugliest and most loved woman on TV in 235 episodes, and the upcoming sequel is planned to have 180 episodes. “20 years have passed by after its first broadcast and Yo soy Betty, la Fea still is a huge phenomena. We, at RCN Television recently broadcast a fourth run and once again became number one on ratings in primetime ratings 2019," mentioned María Lucía Hernández, International Sales Director of RCN. Yo soy Betty, la Fea (aka Ugly Betty), an original story created by Fernando Gaitán, produced by RCN Television. In 2010 It was awarded by the Guinness Records as the most successful telenovela in the TV history. Since its release date, it has been broadcasted in 180 countries, dubbed to 25 languages and it has had 19 adaptations around the globe. RELATED
