BBC Studios and Medyapim, one of Turkey’s biggest content producers, announced a new scripted format agreement that will see the BAFTA award-winning series Doctor Foster remade for the Turkish audience.

As CEETV reported first several months ago, acclaimed Turkish star Cansu Dere (Anne, Sahsiyet, Ezel) will take on the lead role. Originally written by Mike Bartlett and produced by Drama Republic, the series is a gripping psychological drama about a woman who suspects her husband is having an affair. Production begins this month and is set to air on Kanal D in Turkey from October 2020.

BBC Studios has previously licensed the Doctor Foster format in India, France and Russia and more recently in South Korea where the series (Known locally as The World of the Married) was the highest rating drama ever on South Korean cable TV.

The agreement with Medyapim was brokered by Tommaso Muffato, Format Sales Executive for BBC Studios.
