First International Emmy for a Czech series
Czech Internet TV Mall.TV is celebrating great international success. Its series on cyberbullying martyisdead won an Emmy Award today in the category of short series. This is the first time that Czech serial production has received such an award.
The martyisdead series was created in collaboration with CZ.NIC. It captures the other side of social networks and their fatal impact on the life of the hitherto trouble-free fifteen-year-old Martin, nicknamed Marty. It was shot by director Pavel Soukup based on a screenplay by Jaroslav T. Miška and Jan Stehlík. The main role was played by Jakub Nemčok, joined by Petra Bučková, Jan Grundman, Sára Korbelová, Matěj Havelka and Andrej Polák. "It's great that the Czech series resonates like this abroad. It is not only our success; it is also a historical success for the Czech Republic. We are also happy that this is a genre series that is not so much done in our country," said the producers of the series Vratislav Šlajer and Milan Kuchynka. In the spring of 2021, the creators plan to launch a sequel called annaismissing. RELATED
