Viasat World takes content package from Beyond Rights
 28 Jul 2021
Viasat World announced that it has signed a deal with global content distribution company Beyond Rights. Totaling 72 hours of premium quality content, the deal comprises new and returning series, including titles which will premiere for the first time in the CEE, Nordics and Russia & CIS regions, alongside firm favorites which will return to the broadcaster’s flagship channels.

The package includes three key series for Viasat Explore, which will further bolster the channel’s pipeline of content for its ‘Mates at Work’ strand. Bangers & Cash, Season 3, is a returning franchise following its successful launch in 2020 and will be a series premiere. Massive Engineering Mistakes, Season 3, is also a returning series, while Heavy Rescue: 401, Season 2, Season 3 and Season 4, is a brand-new franchise for the channel, with Season 4 set to make its premiere.

For Viasat History, Countdown to War is a new three-part series looking at the countdown to World War II specifically through the eyes of Adolf Hitler. On Viasat Nature Aussie Snake Wranglers will follow the busiest snake catching team in Australia as they go head-to-head with some of the deadliest animals on the planet and will debut alongside the channel’s recently acquired Australian-themed zoo programming. Both are brand new titles for the region. Viasat World has secured exclusive Pay-TV and Catch-up rights on all titles, in addition to some SVOD exclusives and FTV holdback periods as part of the deal.

Karin Heijink, SVP Content, Marketing and Products at Viasat World, commented: “This sizeable deal cements our long-standing and important partnership with Beyond Rights as a leader in the factual content space. These strong and compelling titles are a perfect match with our clearly defined content pillars for each channel, and as such we expect them to be solid ratings drivers with our loyal audiences.”

Holly Cowdery, VP Sales, CEEMEA and Nordics at Beyond Rights, adds: “Viasat World’s factual channel portfolio is renowned for its quality programming, and as a major supplier of content in this genre, they are a key partner for us. We’re pleased to agree this deal which means viewers across CEE, Nordics and Russia & CIS can continue to enjoy their favorite shows while gaining access to the very best new content in the genre.”
