The application period for the Hypewriter international TV series idea competition has ended. Announced for the third time by Paprika Studios in association with RTL Hungary, the competition has attracted more writers than ever before, with almost 450 entries from 38 countries in 2021.

The creators of the eight most exciting entries will be able to present their TV series idea at a pitch forum on October 5 in Budapest. The winner will take home 10.000 euros, and their story will be turned into a fully fledged pilot, which will be made available to the general public by RTL Hungary.

The Hypewriter jury will include Ildikó Enyedi - director of the Oscar-nominated and Golden Bear Award-winning film On Body and Soul and screenwriter, Branko Čakarmiš - Programming Director of POP TV in Slovenia, Péter Kolosi - Deputy CEO and Programming director of RTL Hungary, Bence Trunkó - Creative Director of Paprika Studios and Petr Kolecko, a finalist of the first Hypewriter competition, who is one of today’s most sought after Czech screenwriters.

In 2021, Paprika Studios and RTL Hungary announced their joint international television pitch forum, Hypewriter for the third time, to which, in addition to young but already experienced screenwriters, applicants were also invited who had so far mostly come up with great series ideas just to entertain themselves, their friends and family. The competition aims to find the most original new TV series ideas and their talented creators without any restrictions on genre.

Nearly 450 applications were received by the end of the entry period, mostly from the Central and Eastern European region, but the field, which includes a total of 38 countries, also includes creators from the United States, India, Brazil, Iran and even Australia. This is the highest number of applications the competition has ever received.

The invitation only Hypewriter pitch forum on October 5 in Budapest is accepting registrations on www.hypewriter.tv for a limited number of seats still available.
