Anonymous hack Russian OTT service, Rostelecom’s Tvingo
 27 Feb 2022
The international activist- and hacktivist collective Anonymous announced yesterday that it has hacked into the Russian state TV channels. This morning, Anonymous also confirmed that the Rostelecom-owned Tvingo Telecom has also been hacked. The cyber attacks are part of the war which Anonymous proclaimed against Russia and personally against Vladimir Putin.

Last night, the Anonymous accounts on Twitter posted a video showing users switching between various Russian TV channels, including Perviy HD, Rossiya HD, NTV HD and others. The message reads: “JUST IN: Russian state TV channels have been hacked by Anonymous to broadcast the truth about what happens in Ukraine.”

CEETV can now confirm that the hacked service is OTT Club which provides Russian-language channels to people living abroad. The platform remains hacked and airs a video with the verses which Ukrainian musician Monatik wrote in order to tell Russian people what is really going on right now in Ukraine.

Minutes ago, Anonymous also informed on Twitter: “Anonymous shuts down a gas supply provided by Tvingo Telecom. The company offers fiber-optic networking, Internet, wireless, telephony, and installation of drivers, and satellite services. Tvingo Telecom serves clients in Russia.” The thread includes a video which allegedly shows how the hackers took control of a gas supply switch: “Looks like the Russian state had a little bit of an issue with their Gas compressor. Can someone say, leaking gas, turned off fans, deleted configurations/profiles, access to the file system & an inevitable shutdown? Ukraine”

Tvingo Telecom is fully owned by Rostelecom and based in Vladikavkaz. Upon its acquisition in 2018, the telco had 1.000 corporate users and 30.000 residential clients.
