The National Broadcasting Council of Poland, in coordination with Janusz Cieszyński, the Government Plenipotentiary for Cybersecurity, is urgently verifying all Russian and Belarusian TV channels distributed in Poland, KRRiT announced in a press release.

"They are probed in terms of carrying out dangerous disinformation activities and posting content that threatens the security and defense of the state," explained on Friday the press spokesman of the National Broadcasting Council, Teresa Brykczyńska, adding that "decisions in these matters are being made".

The National Broadcasting Council adopted a resolution to remove programs distributed by Russian channels, including Russia Today, from the register. “In connection with the commencement of hostilities by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, due to security and defense issues of the Republic of Poland, the National Broadcasting Council adopted a resolution on deleting the following programs from the register of television programs broadcast only in the ICT system and programs distributed: RT (Russia Today), RT Documentary, RTR Planeta, Soyuz TV, Rossiya 24,” reported Teresa Brykczyńska from the National Broadcasting Council. Before the resolution of the National Council was announced, Russian stations were removed from Orange Polska's TV offer. Then other operators did so too, incl. Canal+, UPC, Polsat Box, Netia, Vectra and Toya.

On Wednesday, the Council of the European Union introduced further restrictive measures against Russia on Wednesday and urgently suspended the broadcasting activity of the pro-Kremlin media Sputnik and RT in the European Union or aimed at audiences in the European Union.

On March 4, the National Broadcasting Council passed a resolution to remove the following Russian and Belarusian programs from the "Register of TV programs distributed exclusively in the ICT system and distributed programs": Belarus 24 (also known as: TV Belarus) and Perviy channel (also known as: Channel 1 Russia, ORT1).
