Opposition protests against Russian propaganda spread by MTVA
 08 Mar 2022
The united opposition protested in front of MTVA's production base against Russian propaganda disseminated by the Hungarian public media, Media1 reports.

It was said that "there was enough of that filth, of that Putin propaganda going on from here on public television!" In addition to criticizing the public media, there was talk of reviewing the Central European Press and Media Foundation (KESMA) after a change of government, and a petition had already been signed by 11.000 people demanding that András Koltay, President of the Media Council, to fire Daniel Papp, CEO of MTVA.

In addition to the candidate for prime minister, Péter Márki-Zay, several other politicians, such as Ákos Hadházy, Tímea Szabó, Bernadett Szél, Koloman, Ujhelyi István, Miklós Hajnal, László Varju, but also Gábor Polyák, head of the opposition's media policy cabinet.

"There is no free choice where brainwashing has been going on for 12 years, where the opposition is not allowed into the public media." According to him, if the election were free, the voters would replace the most corrupt criminals in Hungary's thousand-year history by 80 percent. Márki-Zay also criticized the newspapers of the pro-government Central European Press and Media Foundation (KESMA).

Ákos Hadházy spoke about the expropriation of the public media by Fidesz and the spread of Russian propaganda as a loyal ally. Hadházy said of the invasion of Ukraine, "The Hungarian Prime Minister's insane mentor has launched a barbaric war," and said, "The Orbán regime is just a Hungarian version of a franchise regime, Putin's regime." (…) Orbán learned from Putin how to steal a country.”

Bernadett Szél, in addition to asking for an end to the broadcasting of Russian propaganda in the public media, urged for the opportunity for state channels to speak to the opposition. The politician recalled that one of M1's programs rumored that Ukraine had started the war.

Tímea Szabó said that the public media had crossed a border and that this was already a threat to Hungary's security. Szabó called it filth and Putin propaganda broadcast on public television.

László Varju said that Putin wants to build a Soviet Union and that Hungarian public television is the TV station built in Europe by Putin's propaganda. Varju also said that Ukrainian president Zelenski, who defended his country, was blamed on state channels for his country being on fire.

Brenner Koloman spoke about the fact that the Hungarian public media has now become a national security risk. (Earlier, Jobbik indicated that it would also initiate the convening of the National Security Committee.)

In his speech, Miklós Hajnal complained that the public media did not give the opposition even 5 minutes before the election.

István Ujhelyi said that the stake in the April elections is whether Hungarians will be members of Orbánistan or the European Union.

Polyák mentioned that more than 11,000 people had already signed a petition to replace the CEO of MTVA, the counterfeit Dániel Papp, which would be sent to András Koltay, chairman of the Media Council, stressing that he would also be responsible for what was going on in the public media if not. replaces Daniel Papp.

The demonstration also commemorated the victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war and the coronavirus pandemic.
