Unilever freezes investments in Russia
 09 Mar 2022
British-Dutch Unilever, one of the world's leading manufacturers of consumer goods, is suspending investments in Russia.

"We have suspended imports of our products from Russia and exports to Russia, we will stop spending on media and advertising. We will not invest in the country," Unilever CEO Alan Jope said in a statement posted on the company's website.

At the same time, the company will continue to supply locally produced food and personal care products to the Russian market.

"We join the call to end the war and hope that peace, human rights and the rule of law will prevail in the world," Jope said.

Unilever produces products under the brands Lipton, Dove, Vaseline, Cif, Signal, Domestos, Rexona AX, Pure Line, Velvet Handles, Inmarko and others. In Russia, the company owns factories that produce ice cream in the Tula region and Omsk, tea, cosmetics and household chemicals in St. Petersburg, and cosmetics in Yekaterinburg.

Earlier, a number of international companies curtailed their activities in Russia, as well as curtailed the export of products to the Russian Federation. Among them are PepsiCo, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Rolls-Royce, Apple, Volkswagen, Dell, Intel, Samsung, Mercedes-Benz and many others.
