The authorities do not plan to turn off the Internet from within in Russia, TASS was told in the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media.

"The telegram for government agencies contains a set of simple recommendations on cyber hygiene that will help organize work more effectively to protect our resources from malicious traffic, maintain the operation of services and control over domain names. In Russia, there are no plans to turn off the Internet from the inside," the message says.

The ministry noted that Russian sites are continuously being cyberattacked from abroad. "We are preparing for different scenarios to ensure the availability of Russian resources to citizens," the ministry added.

Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, said in his Telegram channel that the Ministry of Digital Transformation had already sent recommendations to the authorities on coping with cyber attacks from abroad.

"The main task is to ensure the availability of Russian Internet resources, their protection from malicious traffic, the uninterrupted operation of services and control over domain names. The distributors of the fake about the cybernetic curtain refer to this very letter (in their interpretation there is almost an instruction to cut cables) and the recent the news about the refusal to serve Russian customers by the backbone provider Cogent. The company really made a political decision, but it will not fundamentally affect the connectivity of the Russian segment with the world, and even more so for the operation of Russian services," the deputy wrote.

According to him, the only purpose of such information attacks is "to sow panic, set people against each other."
