Globo ends cooperation with Russian broadcasters
The Brazilian media holding Globo will suspend cooperation with partners in Russia due to the situation around the war in Ukraine. This will include the stop of sales of broadcasting rights to television series, the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo reported on March 9, citing sources in the holding.
"At the moment, Russian television channels are showing the TV series Por Amor and O Clone. On local streaming platforms, Globo is represented by the series O Clone, Brazil Avenue, Above Justice, Iron Island and Hidden Truths," the newspaper recalls. Similarly, according to the newspaper, the purchase of rights to show new Russian films, cartoons and television series will be suspended indefinitely. Brazilian series gained popularity among the Russian viewers in the late 80s, when the telenovela Escrava Isaura was shown to the Soviet audience for the first time. RELATED
