Charity concert organized by Finnish Yle will also be shown in Ukraine
 11 Mar 2022
Yle’s charity concert for Ukraine will also be aired in the country by the local pubcaster UA:PBC (Suspilne).

“Millions of Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes because of the Russian invasion and have not had time to take anything with them. They don't know if they can ever return. Supporting Ukraine is a bigger issue, we are now defending the future of the whole world and the lives of millions of people. We are grateful to every Finn who helps us in these very difficult times,” said Pavlo Korobchuk, Head of Online Content and Social Media at Suspilne.

“The desire of Finnish people and organizations to help and be involved in Yle's event has been something completely exceptional. It is wonderful if, in addition to the financial support, we can also convey to the Ukrainians the common will, support and spirit of the Finns. The simultaneous efforts of European broadcasters to support Ukraine show that this is a European issue,” said Panu Pokkinen, Director of Yle's Sports and Events Unit .

The funds collected during the Help Ukraine charity event will be used to help those affected by the war in Ukraine within the country and in neighboring countries to which people have fled. The aid organizations involved, Church Aid, Save the Children, the Finnish Red Cross and UNICEF, are responsible for collecting and ensuring that the aid reaches its destination.

In addition to Yle, broadcasters from all over the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe organize fundraising concerts in co-operation with charities.

In Denmark, top artists will take the stage on the same day as Yle’s concert. The big charity concert Together for Ukraine by the Danish broadcasters DR and TV 2 will also be performed on giant screens in the country's largest cities.

In Sweden, SVT will donate all proceeds from the vote on the Melodifestivalen final (also taking place this Saturday) to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

Norwegian broadcaster NRK held a support concert this Monday. The concert featured top Norwegian artists and raised NOK 800 million, or about 8.1 million, for Ukraine.
