 11 Mar 2022
Together with the Slovenian Red Cross and Caritas Slovenia, RTV Slovenia has organized a charity concert to help the refugees from Ukraine, which so far has raised over 799.650 euros, and donations are still accepted, the broadcaster informs.

The start of the war in Ukraine shook the whole world and has undoubtedly affected the lives of millions of people around the world. Every war is accompanied by an indescribable humanitarian crisis, which can only be mitigated by mutual human solidarity and generosity.
The charity concert held by RTV Slovenia in cooperation with the Slovenian Red Cross and Slovenian Caritas under the motto Let's Stand Together for Ukraine, which raised financial aid for the refugees from the country. So far, over 799.650 euros have been raised and the show has been seen by 117.000 people. Almost 2800 calls have been received.

The charity concert of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and guests aired live on TV SLO 1, Radio Slovenia 1, Radio Koper, Radio Maribor and on the MMC web portal. The concert was presented by the popular hosts Bernarda Žarn and Igor E. Bergant, while the calls were received by many famous faces from RTV Slovenia, where the program was co-ordinated by Rok Kužel.

The Symphony Orchestra was joined at TV Slovenia's Studio 1 by many famous musicians including Eva Beus and Miha Koretič, Zvezdana Novakovič, Čaralice and Danijel Bogataj, the Sašo Avsenik Ensemble, Ditka, Vlado Kreslin, Anja Pavlin, Lamai, Bort Ross and others.
RTV Slovenia's correspondents from Ukraine and its border countries, where thousands of refugees have already taken refuge, also participated in the event. The viewers witnessed stories full of despair and hope, fear and immense compassion and solidarity to which the viewers, listeners and users of RTV Slovenia also contributed voluntarily. The event was also attended by Ukrainian Ambassador Mihajlo Brodovič, who described the events in Ukraine as a 'war crime' and thanked Slovenia for the help to Ukraine despite being a small country.
As a public service, RTV Slovenia always strives to provide the public with comprehensive and up-to-date information on the current situation in Ukraine and along its borders. It has also shown solidarity with the people of Ukraine by broadcasting their local radio programs on its website, which will bring them a bit closer to home.

During the preparation of the event, the General Manager of RTV Slovenia Andrej Grah Whatmough wrote that: 'The Slovenian people have proven to us many times that we do know how to recognize and to also help a friend in need. The desire for solidarity and selfless help to the victims of the Ukrainian war is great, so we at RTV Slovenia decided to organize a charity concert for Ukraine. Hopefully in the excellent company of the RTVS Symphony Orchestra and popular Slovenian musicians we'll be able to raise as much money as possible and thus help those, who have been forced to seek refuge in our country in order to save their lives. We sincerely thank all of those, who have done their best to contribute to this great cause.'
