The Village Life is a new reality format which will have its official premiere at MIPTV in less than two weeks. Good Singers has already proven its hit status in a number of countries and is set to return for another run on TF1 this summer.

"The Village Life" is a fun and enlightening reality show which transports viewers to an idyllic, rural world far from the stresses of urban life, featuring eight women in two teams who compete in entertaining tasks to learn traditional lifestyles. Guided by experts in rural life skills, they perform chores competitively, milking cows, shearing sheep, cleaning stables, harvesting crop and maintaining the farm. The show revolves around a farmhouse and kitchen where the women prepare traditional dishes under the guidance of an expert chef, with the winning team earning daily and weekly prizes. The contest takes the women and viewers on a voyage of discovery, showing they can enrich their lives by returning to a simpler way of life away from the excesses of the urban, technology-driven world.

The primetime contest features key elements of surprise, all set in a dazzling studio. The contestants, hidden away in 12 numbered cabinets, are only visible as silhouettes to create a sense of mystery. Before the performances, the contestants of the week are introduced to the jury and viewers by VTRs and describe what they do in life and their dreams. Without revealing their identity, they sing 10 seconds of their chosen song “a capella” to give the jury a sense of what they are like as performers. But every one of them is hidden in their cabinets, so the jury doesn’t know who is who. Each jury member then chooses a silhouette contestant to join them in a duet by pushing one of 12 numbered buttons on a panel in front of them.

In each episode, 12 contestants will come onto the stage, each with a numbered label, and each of them pretending to be a Good Singer. While some of them may have great voices, others certainly won't! The celebrities have one goal: to distinguish the fakes from the genuine articles among the candidates. Do they sing like a diva or like a strangled cat? Do they have what it takes to identify the Good Singers? The two teams will face each other over the course of four rounds, each funnier than the next. In order to win money for charity they must find the most beautiful voices! Which team will win its charity the most money? Which team will be able to identify the Good Singers?
