Two Sputnik executives detained in Estonia
In Estonia, two managers of Sputnik Meedia, the local bureau of the Russian propaganda agency Sputnik, which is part of the state-owned Russia Today, were detained, Delfi reports.
The detainees are Elena Cherysheva and Mati-Dmytry Terestal. Estonian police suspect them of violating international sanctions and have opened criminal proceedings. According to the investigation, Cherysheva and Terestal, through intermediaries, provided a sanctioned person with access to more than 350.000 euros received from Russia. In addition, they did not close their portal after the EU sanctions imposed in early March. The prosecutor's office reminded that sanctions were imposed for Russia's international crimes against the Ukrainian people and state. "We will not evaluate the content published on the portal in this criminal case," added Chief Prosecutor Taavi Pern. RELATED
