Zeonbud proposes a way to reduce costs for channels
 12 Apr 2022
Zeonbud, the digital terrestrial television provider, has approached the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine with a proposal to reduce the cost of operating the network and paying for broadcasts for TV channels, Detector Media reports.

"We are well aware of the difficult situation in the television industry during the Russian military aggression. Therefore, we are actively looking for ways to reduce the cost of operating the network and thus reduce the financial burden on TV companies," said the company's press service.

Zeonbud believes that it is possible to quickly reduce costs by 50% if they redistribute channels in multiplexes. In particular, the proposal is to place 13 national channels in MX-1 and MX-2, and three national and regional channels in MX-5.

"Thus, there will be no need to bear the costs of operating the MX-3 multiplex," Zeonbud said. In the future, the company offers to switch to broadcasting only in two multiplexes. Zeonbud is ready to carry out all works on modernization of the network at its own expense. And now it is waiting for the decision of the National Council.

On March 19, the President of Ukraine put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which subordinated Zeonbud to the Concern RRT (KRRT) and obliged national channels to broadcast a single marathon. Channel 5, Pryamiy and Espresso changed their airtime and joined the broadcast of the United News marathon.

Meanwhile, Channel 5 said that it will sue KRRT if its signal is not restored on DTT.
