Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting has called on broadcasters in the territories temporarily occupied by Russian troops not to cooperate with the occupiers and reminded of several cases when this happened.

In particular, it noted a series of programs on the air of VTV Plus TV and Radio Company with the participation of Volodymyr Saldo, a deputy of the Kherson City Council of the VIII Convocation, who sided with the Russians and declared himself the "leader of the Kherson region".

"The National Council emphasizes that no Ukrainian media should be used against their state. Broadcasting the occupiers and their servants is unacceptable, given that any information is an instrument of propaganda, cynical and false, influence against the integrity and security of our state, all Russian power brings only death and suffering.

In view of the above, we urge all residents of Kherson to be aware that VTV Plus has cooperated with the aggressor state's cronies and collaborators, and will therefore most likely use its programs to disseminate manipulative and false information that is not true, nor the official position of our state," declared the National Council.

The occupiers were also supported by the Melitopol TV channel MTV Plus, which included a broadcast of the aggressor state's program, and the Internet provider SmartNET from Kakhovka, according to the National Council, provides access to blocked Russian sites and TV channels.

The National Council urges residents of the temporarily occupied territories to be critical of the content of these TV channels and not to trust the information they disseminate. The regulator urges broadcasters to immediately inform about cases of pressure or seizure of newsrooms, equipment, transmitters, and any critical and risky actions against company personnel.

The National Council believes that they now need to be able to revoke the licenses of cooperating companies at their own discretion with a simplified inspection procedure.

"The regulator has already addressed this issue to legislators. Now the National Council will once again remind MPs of the need to resolve this issue by making appropriate legislative changes," the National Council added.
