Starlight Production busy with 18 projects shot before the war
 10 May 2022
In late March, Starlight Production announced the resumption of post-production for projects shot before the war. In particular, about the immediate start of the post-production part of the projects, while part was waiting for the logistical delivery of equipment to resume work on video editing.

Volodymyr Lokotko, Head of Starlight Production, talked to Detector Media about the number of these projects, the time perspectives of their showing and the adaptation of the production work to the new unprecedented conditions.

“We have developed the general technology of post-production work in military conditions and we are separately adjusting the work of each project. Projects shot before the war are already being edited. We consider it expedient to do this now, without waiting for the end of the war, so that the programs are ready to air.

Starlight Production is currently completing 18 of its own production projects. I want to note that this is almost the full amount of the normal spring period. This is about 300 hours of content, including both TV series and TV shows. Of course, this would not have been possible without our people, a team that, despite the war, continues to do its work for our audience, for every Ukrainian,” Lokotko said.

It is not yet clear when these programs will be shown on air.

Asked about the wartime work process, Lokotko explained: “Today, given the martial law in the country, the Starlight Production team mostly works remotely. There was no centralized relocation of employees. But some people were individually forced to flee their homes to escape the war. So we delivered more than 60 computers for editing throughout Ukraine (Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Kyiv regions) and neighboring countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary), set up the transfer of large amounts of recorded content to each team member project both in Ukraine and abroad.

The company had a plan in case of war, so we have a backup studio (for broadcasting news) in Ukraine. All the necessary equipment for full-fledged work has been transported there from Kyiv. Starlight Scenery was involved in the design and implementation of the scenery.”

SLP is also helping the Ukrainian army: “We are actively helping the defense. The company has an internal headquarters, which is currently collecting needs and seeking help from our colleagues, including those who serve (many of our employees went to the defense). So when we contact our colleagues, we first learn about their needs. The most needed were radios, generators and power cables. We donated about 500 pieces of necessary equipment to the army and defense forces: radios, generators, drones and cameras for filming chronicles. Some equipment is now working to film military chronicles in the safe hands of cameramen who filmed Starlight Media projects, and now - in military units. In addition, we recently organized a supply from Poland for a terrorist defense unit of one of our colleagues. We continue to contact the foundations and the army directly and try to process all their requests and provide the necessary assistance.”

Starlight Production continues to fulfill new commissions for Starlight Media TV channels. These are mostly small TV programs and columns. We are involved in the production of videos that are broadcast within the telethon "United News" and more.

Starlight Media marketing is in charge of the organizational process. As far as I know, the team consists of specialists from the Starlight Digital content department, Startlight Production editing directors, the sustainable development department and other corporate volunteers.

Since the beginning of the war, more than 100 inspiring videos have been created. They help to inform Ukrainians, support the fighting spirit, involve the world in helping Ukraine, counter Russian propaganda and demotivate the enemy. Many of the videos have been translated into several languages and work not only for Ukrainian but also for international audiences,” Lokotko noted.
