Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting has asked the management of Euronews to reconsider their position on Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, we continue to notice deviations from journalistic standards on Euronews, so let me tell you our opinion on the 'unbiased, fact-based news' that you proclaim as your basic principle. We noticed that different language versions of the plots have some differences. What's worse, we see that Kremlin narratives continue to exist everywhere without any attempt to call them disinformation," the National Council said.

In particular, the regulator drew attention to the Euronews story from June 12, in which there is a direct speech of the head of Luhansk pro-Russian militants Leonid Pasechnik. In the French version of the story, he is presented as "leader of the separatist region of Luhansk" and in Russian - as "the head of the Luhansk People's Republic", although the territories temporarily occupied by his militants are part of Ukraine. At the same time, both versions of the story contain Pasechnik's words about "Ukrainian nationalist battalions" and there is no explanation that this is a Russian narrative to justify aggression.

"Don't you think that broadcasting the views of bandits and aggressors and not giving the floor to the Ukrainian authorities in the same story looks like support for aggression?" It is very strange how the media expelled from Russia keep all the Kremlin's narratives in their broadcasts for Russian-speaking and French-speaking Europeans," the National Council said.

Already in March, the National Councildrew attention to the fact that the Russian-language version of Euronews spreads Russian propaganda.

In Russia, Euronews and its Russian-language website were blocked in March. Roskomnadzor said that the blockade was due to "publication of unreliable information" about the war in Ukraine, as well as due to "calls to participate in unauthorized actions."
