MEGOGO eyes European expansion, signs BB Media deal
 09 Aug 2022
MEGOGO, a leading international streaming service in Central and Eastern Europe with a catalog of approximately 200 thousand hours of content, has established a strategic global partnership with BB Media, a leading media intelligence and content distribution researcher. As part of this exclusive partnership, BB Media will provide to MEGOGO real time global data of the streaming services in the European region in support of the difficulties faced by streaming services in Ukraine due to the war.

As a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, MEGOGO suppressed any content made in Russia and closed access to the service in that country. This is why now this platform is considering the possibilities of entering other markets in Europe. BB Media is the only Data Science and Market Research company actively monitoring over 240 countries around the world (53 countries in Europe). 3300+ streaming services are updated every week on their available titles, movies, series, metadata and also prices, plans, offers and bundles, which are also detected in real-time.

As the streaming market continues to grow, it is really important to understand what’s happening in it. Knowing where the content is available, what genre the streaming platforms offer, whether they have local or original content and also the main commercial data of each streaming service are key aspects. All of these and more is what the partnership is about.

“We really feel for Ukraine and this immeasurable injustice that has been brought upon every one of the citizens. We hope -our tiny grain of sand- helps MEGOGO to start its business in Poland or other European markets” said Tomás Gennari, CEO of BB.

“CEE region is very competitive. For example Poland in particular has more than 50 streaming platforms, with iTunes, TVN Player and Netflix leading the podium according to the amount of movies and series available on their libraries. The business models that predominate in the Poland’s streaming services are the SVOD, followed very closely by the transactional model. Moreover, only 849 of the 49 thousand titles offered in Poland are of Polish origin.

“Like all Ukrainian companies, MEGOGO is facing a lot of difficulties due to the war. To keep business on track in such conditions we had no other option as transform the company and find new ways for growth. We are grateful to the BB Media for support in that. It's very important to continue developing business in Ukraine to help the Ukrainian economy. This is one of the aspects that brings us closer to our victory” said Valeriia Tolochyna, CMO of MEGOGO.
