The SBB company called on all relevant institutions in Serbia to secure equal conditions in the market envisaged by the Constitution and laws so it could expand its network.

The SBB company noted in a press release that it currently provides services in 35 cities, and that it wants to be accessible throughout Serbia so that all citizens can freely choose the operator whose services they wish to use.

"We demand that the state of Serbia finally start implementing its laws and stop the obstructions, to enable us to use the optical infrastructure of the state operator under the same conditions as operators A1 and Yettel, to enable us to use, under equal conditions, the networks of mobile operators that use frequencies as a public good, as well as to organize an auction for the 5G network where all interested parties will have an equal chance to obtain a license for mobile services. The opening of mobile networks and a fair competition for spectrum licenses are necessary, especially since the number of service providers was recently reduced from four to three, since Telekom Srbija acquired Zeljko Mitrovic’s Globaltel, thus further narrowing the citizens’ choice,” said SBB.

The company further said that, since the release of the information that SBB is being sold, the company has been encountering increased obstructions on the ground on a daily basis, including the competition’s attempts to deceive its users.

“We want to once again emphasize – the SBB company is not for sale, it remains the ownership of United Group, one of the largest telecommunications and media providers in South East Europe, and we intend to expand our business in Serbia,” said the press release.

SBB noted that it has so far invested over 900 million euros in Serbia, and 300 million euros in network digitalization.

"As a company that employs some 1,800 people and pays millions in taxes annually, we believe that our future investment in the economy of Serbia can be good for all its citizens. The only thing we insist on is the possibility to operate freely without obstructions and to have equal treatment in the market in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Serbia,” said the SBB company.
