Actor Yevhen Svitlychnyi has been killed in Russia's war against Ukraine, producer Denys Ivanov revealed on Facebook.

Ivanov wrote that Svitlychnyi was the actor who embodied the character of Karas in the film Nosorih (Rhino) - the Ukrainian feature film directed by Oleh Sentsov.

Svitlychnyi lost his life alongside two other comrades on July 19, his unit The Wolves of Da Vinci confirmed.

Sentsov, who is also at the front, posted: "Zheka Svitlychnyi. An athlete, an actor, a warrior. Died like a hero, defending our Motherland."

Rhino was released in 2021 and has won several international awards.
