 22 Sep 2023
United Media, a leading media company in Southeast Europe, has appointed George Makris as Group Program Director.

Makris has more than twenty years of experience in the media industry, especially in the area of business development, program strategy, research and marketing. Previously, he held the positions of program director of Nova TV Croatia, director of Ukrainian 1+1, as well as director of research and strategic development at RTL Croatia.

Two years ago, he was appointed Program Director of United Media for the Adriatic region. Thanks to the strategic approach and the setting of programming schemes created to contain the best ratio of domestic production and licensed world TV formats, all United Media televisions in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded a significant increase in viewership.

In Croatia, Nova TV has been the most watched commercial television channel for years, while in Serbia, Nova S has positioned itself as the third most watched channel. The national television channels Nova M and Nova BH are also at the top of the ratings.

In addition to the existing channels, George will now be responsible for the United Media television program in Greece and Bulgaria.

Aleksandra Subotić, executive director of United Media, wished George success in his new position.

"The success he has achieved as well as his enviable experience in the media industry make him the ideal candidate for this position. Thanks to the programming strategy he implemented in the Adriatic region in the last two years, our media have stood out on the market and gained great trust from viewers. We look forward to development in the markets of other countries", said Subotić.

"I am truly honored and I see this as a great challenge to contribute to the growth and success of our media in all countries. I am excited that I will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues and that together we will create interesting content for audiences throughout Southeast Europe," he said.

Makris has a master's degree in B2B marketing management. He worked as deputy director at AGB Nielsen Media Research as well as at Ipsos and AC Nielsen EMEA.
