TV and radio back in Ukraine's Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts
 20 Mar 2024
Access to the Ukrainian broadcasting signal was restored at almost all facilities in the Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts, reports the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection.

The Broadcasting, Radiocommunication and Television Concern restored access to the Ukrainian radio and television in Lozova, Kehychivka, Izyum, Sumy, Trostyanets and Shostka.

The Concern's engineers also restored the power supply and repaired the damaged equipment.

"Now, restoration work is underway at other damaged objects in the Sumy oblast. We will update you when the restoration is complete," added the SSCS.

On the night of March 14, Russian troops struck television infrastructure facilities in the Kharkiv oblast en masse with drones. Russia also carried out missile and air strikes on radio facilities in the Sumy oblast, which left some municipalities the Sumy oblast without television or radio signal.

Suspilne has reported that the T2 broadcasting of their TV channels and radio channels is temporarily unavailable in the Sumy oblast and the Kharkiv due to the Russian strikes.

In the two years of the full-scale invasion, the IMI recorded 16 cases of Russians shelling TV towers, which are civilian objects. This caused television and radio broadcasting in nine regions of Ukraine to disappear completely or temporarily.
