A Bulgarian delegation attended NEM Zagreb for the first time
A Bulgarian delegation representing the audiovisual and film industry was part of the international forum New Europe Market (NEM) Zagreb for the first time this year.
The trade mission was organized by the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BSMEPA) so that Bulgarian companies can be part of the global network in the industry. The trade mission iwas s carried out in implementation of activity 6 "Organization, conduct and participation of Bulgarian SME producers in trade missions abroad" under Project BG16RFPR001-1.002-0001 "Implementation of measures for the internationalization of Bulgarian SMEs by supporting the activities of the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BSMEPA)" under the Program "Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises" 2021-2027. The following companies participated in the prestigious trade mission from the Bulgarian audiovisual and film industry: Incandescent Distribution, Agitprop, Art Winner, Bazook, and Concept Studio. NEM Zagreb 2024 was held for the fourth time, between December 10-12, with the event focusing on the production of television series and films in Central and Eastern Europe. The first day of the international conference featured inspiring panel discussions, a co-production gathering event, and a welcoming speech by the Secretary of State of Croatia - Krešimir Partl. There was also a bright Bulgarian participation on the big stage of NEM Zagreb 2024. Martichka Bozhilova, producer of Agitprop Ltd. and the main scriptwriter Teodora Markova, presented the project for the series Gold War, a sports drama dedicated to the role of our talented athletes as a “weapon” during the Cold War between the Moscow and Los Angeles Olympics in the 1980s. The participation of Bulgarian companies in the international film industry forum, through the support of BSMEPA, helped to expand international partnerships with leaders in the field of television productions and opens up opportunities for financing and successful implementation of film projects. Within the framework of NEM Zagreb 2024, a competition for the best project was held in two categories: Best Pre-development Project Award (including scripted series, entertainment formats, scripted feature films and documentary series/feature films) The Council of Europe Series Co-production Development Award.
