![]() Netflix shoots seasons 2 and 3 of 3 Body Problem in Hungary
Netflix has officially confirmed that production is underway in Budapest for the second season of the science fiction series 3 Body Problem, with Pioneer Stillking providing production services and utilizing Hungary's 30% cash rebate incentive. The streaming service has also confirmed that the third season will similarly be filmed in Hungary. According to the National Film Office of Hungary, the combined production budget for both seasons amounts to $267 million, with $80 million coming from indirect subsidies.
Filming for the second season began on July 8, 2025, and is scheduled to continue through August 2, 2027. The second season is expected to premiere in 2026. The creative team remains led by co-creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, with Miguel Sapochnik and Jeremy Podeswa executive producing and directing multiple episodes. The production team includes executive producers Bernadette Caulfield, Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Brad Pitt through Plan B Entertainment, Jeremy Kleiner, and Rosamund Pike of Primitive Streak. The second season introduces new cast members including Alfie Allen, alongside series regulars Claudia Doumit and Ellie de Lange, as well as David Yip and Jordan Sunshine. Returning cast members from the first season include Liam Cunningham, Jovan Adepo, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Benedict Wong, and Jonathan Pryce. The first season, which was filmed in the United Kingdom, premiered in March 2024 and achieved significant success by reaching the top of Netflix's global viewership charts.
