The release of the audio recording of a conversation between Stan Miller and Vladimir Lucic has finally brought the truth to light, United Media CEO Aleksandra Subotic said in comments following the publication of the recording.
This is her statement in full: "The release of the audio recording of the conversation between Stan Miller and Vladimir Lučić has finally brought the truth to light. It unequivocally reveals the extent to which the Serbian government, led by Aleksandar Vučić, is willing to go to silence and weaken independent voices like N1 and Nova – media outlets that are more crucial than ever today, in a time of repression and manipulation." “I stand fully behind our newsdesks and their demands because this is not just a battle for the profession – this is a battle for the fundamental right of the public to receive truthful and complete information. The panicked discreditation campaign which the regime launched the moment the recording was released just confirms the extent of the scandal and inability to dispute the facts. That campaign targets me personally but the final goal is to shut down independent journalism in Serbia. “Instead of responding to their spins, I want to state the facts: United Media today is the leading media company in southeast Europe with more than 4,200 employees in 8 countries and is one of the most reliable sources of information trusted by the public. I am proud of that and no one can dispute that fact. I am at my workplace and have not “escaped” as some pro-government Serbian tabloids have claimed. Constant travel is part of the job when running an international company: last year and this year alone I flew from Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport more than 50 times with a number of business trips in the region,” the statement said.
