CEESofia Meetings opens submissions for landmark 2026 edition
Aspiring and established filmmakers across the globe are being called to submit their projects to the 23rd edition of Sofia Meetings, a leading co-production market and industry platform. The event, which will run from March 18 to 22, 2026, as a core part of the 30th Sofia International Film Festival, has officially announced its open call for submissions across three key categories: feature films, TV series, and works in progress.
Sofia Meetings is on the hunt for a diverse range of projects, specifically targeting the first, second, or third feature films of emerging directors, as well as TV series in development and projects based on literary works. In a move that underscores its regional importance, the event also explicitly welcomes projects from more established directors seeking production partners in Southeastern Europe. The submission process is detailed, requiring specific materials tailored to each category. For feature film projects, applicants must provide a full package including a logline, script, budget, financing plan, and director’s notes. TV series developers are asked to submit a project pitch, pilot script, series bible, and a financing plan. The deadline for both feature film and TV series applications is December 1, 2025. A separate and earlier deadline of January 11, 2024, is set for the "Works in Progress" section. This segment is designed for films in the late stages of post-production or recently completed, with a runtime of over 60 minutes. Selected works will be presented to an international audience of festival programmers, sales agents, and distributors. All materials must be submitted via email to sofiameetings@siff.bg. Sofia Meetings has established itself as a vital nexus for the international film industry, attracting over 500 industry executives annually. The event provides a unique platform for creators to connect with producers, distributors, sales agents, and film fund representatives from around the world. The 2026 edition will be structured around three distinct modules: Feature Films Pitching: For fiction projects seeking co-producers and distribution. TV Series Pitching: For television series looking for co-production partners. Works in Progress: A curated showcase for nearly finished films presented to key industry decision-makers. Beyond the pitching sessions, the event will feature a robust Industry Programme including talks, workshops hosted by Europa Distribution and Europa Cinemas, a VR/Transmedia Hub, and numerous networking events. Sofia Meetings is supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA program, the Bulgarian National Film Center, and Sofia Municipality. RELATED
