Baltic media join hands to broadcast Ukrainian anthem in unprecedented display of solidarity
 24 Feb 2026
To mark the fourth anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, over 70 media outlets across Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will simultaneously broadcast the Ukrainian national anthem on February 24 at 12.00. This coordinated initiative, which began in Latvia and has since expanded to include the public and private broadcasters of all three Baltic states, will serve as a powerful symbol of regional solidarity. By aligning their programming, these TV, radio and digital platforms aim to demonstrate an unwavering stance against the Russian aggression and highlight the collective unity of the Baltic information space.

The initiative has seen significant growth, with nearly 60 Latvian regional and national media participating alongside major partners in Lithuania and Estonia for the second consecutive year. Anita Brown, editor-in-chief of Latvian Public Media (LSM), emphasized that this united front is intended to inspire continued public support for Ukraine. She noted that while public media has consistently reported on the realities of the front lines, it is crucial that societies do not succumb to 'war fatigue' and stay committed to Ukraine’s path toward victory.

The extensive list of participants includes major networks like Latvian Radio, LTV, TV3 Group alongside the Lithuanian and Estonian public broadcasters (LRT and ERR) and the digital portals like Delfi and TVNET. Beyond the airwaves, the campaign has gone on to reach public infrastructure, including the Riga International Bus Station, ensuring the message of support resonates across both the media landscape and urban environments. This wide-reaching involvement underscores the deep-seated cultural and political ties between the Baltic countries and their shared commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty.

Beyond the symbolic TV broadcast, LSM and the charity organization Ziedot.lv have launched a targeted fundraising campaign to mitigate the ongoing energy crisis in Ukraine. This initiative encourages public contributions to supply critical equipment such as power generators and heating units to communities left in darkness by Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure. Running through February 25, the project operates in direct cooperation with the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund, ensuring that the Baltic media’s symbolic gesture is backed by substantial aid for Ukraine’s vital energy infrastructure.
