CEELithuania raises €4 million for Ukraine during RADAROM! fundraiser
As the war in Ukraine marked another year on February 24, Lithuania concluded its fourth annual RADAROM! solidarity campaign Tuesday evening with a daylong telemarathon titled RADAROM! The Fight Is Not Over, raising 4 million euros for the war-torn country before midnight.
Organizers said the final total is expected to increase as corporate donations and funds raised through auctions are added in the coming days. The donation hotline 1483 will remain active for several days after February 24 to ensure that late payments are processed. Beginning at 09:00, a live broadcast on LRT TV featured special reports from Ukraine, in-studio discussions and an evening concert. Throughout the telethon, viewers saw footage from areas devastated by war and heard testimonies from Ukrainian soldiers. “I wish the war had ended yesterday. I will fight for Ukraine as long as I live,” one Ukrainian soldier said during the broadcast. This year’s RADAROM! campaign encouraged donations to provide Ukrainian troops with advanced technologies designed to protect their lives. The funds will be used to purchase robotic defense and medical evacuation systems intended to safeguard soldiers defending the front lines. “The war is changing; it is moving in a technological direction – we see that clearly,” said Jonas Ohman, co-founder of the Lithuanian support organization Blue/Yellow. “When we receive requests, we see that the war is shifting to different forms,” he said, explaining the decision to acquire robotic systems for Ukraine. Ukraine’s ambassador to Lithuania, Olha Nikitchenko, who visited the LRT studio during the broadcast, thanked Lithuania for its continued support. She said it would be difficult to find a Ukrainian who is unaware of how strongly Lithuania has backed Ukraine since the start of the war. RELATED
