CEEHBO Original Proud wins Grand Prize at Series Mania
The HBO Original series Proud has won the Grand Prize in the International Competition at Series Mania Festival, confirming its breakout status on the global stage. The Polish production, created by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, also secured the Best Actor Award for Ignacy Liss, underlining the strength of its lead performance.
Premiering in Lille, the eight-part drama is the first Polish title in a decade to be selected for the festival’s main competition. It quickly resonated with both audiences and the international jury, standing out among a strong global lineup. Proud follows Filip, a young and reckless man whose seemingly carefree life is upended by a sudden family tragedy. Forced to take responsibility for a child, he must confront his own insecurities, personal failures and deeply rooted social prejudices, setting him on a complex emotional journey. The series is directed by Karol Klementewicz and written by Klementewicz and Monika Pęcikiewicz. Produced for HBO Max in collaboration with Magnolia Films, it is set to premiere on the platform later this year. RELATED
