CEEHungary looks for Nation's Dumbest
BBC Studios announced today that RTL Hungary has commissioned a local version of the Norwegian format Nation's Dumbest which they distribute. Filming is scheduled for this summer.
As TVBIZZ reported earlier, the format is also being adapted by TV 2 Denmark. Sumi Connock, EVP, Global Creative Network and Formats, BBC Studios, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with RTL Hungary and TV 2 Denmark to bring Nation’s Dumbest to new audiences. It delivers big, playful entertainment but also has real warmth—giving viewers a chance to see celebrities at their most human. That balance is proving key to its growing international appeal.” The new agreements follow standout performance for Nation’s Dumbest in existing markets. In France, the show, produced by BBC Studios France Productions, has become the 1 unscripted title of the year to date. Launching on TF1 as the most-watched program of the day, it delivered a peak audience of 4.6 million viewers and a 24.7% market share across its opening night. [But dropped to 2.8 million for the finale, as per TVBIZZ. - Ed.] The format has since ranked as the highest-rated new format launch in France since 2020 and the biggest unscripted debut since 2022, outperforming a range of well-established entertainment brands. In Sweden, the format was the 1 new entertainment launch of the year with the premiere drawing more than 1.1 million viewers for TV4. RELATED
