SkyShowtime and Telewizja Polsat have today announced they are partnering on original crime-comedy series Genialna M., starring Agnieszka Dygant in the title role.

Marta (Dygant) works as a cleaner at a police station in Bielsko-Biała. One night, unable to resist temptation, she begins tidying up the evidence board in a complicated case that has reached a dead end. To the surprise of the police officers, she discovers a clue that brings them significantly closer to catching the perpetrator. It soon emerges that Marta has an incredibly high IQ of 160. Although her extraordinary intellect has never helped her much in everyday life, it may prove to be a powerful weapon in the fight against crime and, from that moment on, the brilliant cleaner begins helping the police solve criminal cases.

Genialna M. is based on the French format H.P.I. – Haut Potentiel Intellectuel, created by Nicolas Jean, Stéphane Carrié and Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, based on an original idea by Nicolas Jean, produced by Septembre Productions and Itineraire Productions and licensed by Studio TF1. The production debuted in 2019 in France, and quickly gained widespread popularity, leading to a number of international adaptations, including an American version.

Genialna M. is the first collaboration between European streamer SkyShowtime and Telewizja Polsat. The series will be directed by Olga Chajdas (Imago, Wataha), and written by Błażej Dzikowski and Agata Malesińska, with Anna Rzepka as Director of Photography. Dorota Kośmicka serves as Creative and Executive Producer, with Jan Kępiński as Executive Producer. The production company is Jake Vision DGA Studio.

Genialna M. is the latest Polish original series announced by SkyShowtime and part of a growing slate of original titles that include Deadly Ties (Śleboda), Langer and The Cop. A New Chapter, together with upcoming gangster series Morpheus (Morfeusz) and crime drama Deadly Ties S2 (Pionek), both of which are scheduled to premiere later this year.
