Ukraine confirms Eurovision 2027 participation
 16 Sep 2026
Ukraine will participate in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, public broadcaster Suspilne has confirmed.

Suspilne board chair Mykola Chernotytskyi said Eurovision remains an important platform for Ukraine to engage directly with hundreds of millions of Europeans and keep Ukrainian culture and perspectives in the international spotlight.

“Eurovision today is a critically important tool for direct interaction with hundreds of millions of Europeans. For Ukraine, participation in the contest is primarily about agency, protecting cultural sovereignty and keeping the Ukrainian context in the focus of global attention until the very final,” Chernotytskyi said.

Oksana Skybinska, executive producer of Suspilne's Eurovision creative team, said remaining an active participant in the European cultural space allows Ukraine to communicate its messages and encourage cooperation and support.

“At least from March to May, the music world discusses the entries and songs from participating countries. This is a platform where Ukraine's voice must be heard,” Skybinska said.

Eurovision 2027 will take place on May 11, 13 and 15 in Burgas, Bulgaria. It will be the first time Bulgaria hosts the contest, following Dara's victory at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna with Bangaranga.

New Eurovision rules announced earlier this year prohibit countries at war from hosting the competition. Ukraine will therefore participate as a contestant but cannot host the event while the war continues.
