Oleksiy Nurulin, Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman and senior mobile TV station engineer at 1+1 Media, died in hospital on September 9, 1+1 Media reported in a Facebook post.

The company said that Oleksiy Nurulin had been on the 1+1 Media team for over 13 years, having joined in August 2013 as a mobile TV station engineer, and being promoted to senior engineer in 2018.

“Over the years, for many he became not just a colleague they worked alongside but someone they could always rely on. Oleksiy could find a reason to stay positive and lift his colleagues’ spirits in any situation,” 1+1 Media said.

Oleksiy Nurulin enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces in March 2022. He was one of the company’s first employees to leave his job in the media and head to the battlefield following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

According to the Institute of Mass Information, Oleksiy Nurulin is the 139th media professional to die in the course of Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine.
