On August 11, 2014, 1+1 media group will launch the international news television channel Ukraine Today in test mode, the company reports. Starting from August 24, the channel will be broadcast in full.

The newly created newsroom that will be part of the Department of Information Broadcasting of 1+1 Media will be responsible for the channel’s content aired in English.

“For us, as one of the leading Ukrainian media companies, it is important to provide the international community with access to the real facts and events in Ukraine, Russia and the CIS. Unfortunately, in recent years we have witnessed a large-scale information war conducted by Russian state media. We believe that we can respond to it, especially by providing objective information based on the principles of the civilized world: with all-round points of view, without lies and distortions. Ukraine Today is our contribution in support of Ukraine’s European choice,” Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Chief Executive Officer of 1+1 Media, says.

Tetiana Pushvona, who has been holding a position of Chief Editor of TSN, 1+1's news, since September 2011, is appointed General Producer of the channel.

In course of time, it is planned to extend the newsroom and launch the channel’s broadcasting in Russian.

The television channel will be free and available via Hotbird satellite in the territory of Europe this year, and in the United States starting from next year. Among the newsroom employees, in addition to Ukrainians, will also be citizens of the EU.

It should be reminded that TSN has already had experience of cooperation with international journalists. Since May, journalists of the BBC news broadcasting centre, New Broadcasting House in London, have been working live on the air of the main information edition of TSN, at 19.30, on Mondays and Wednesdays, offering viewers of 1+1 the international context of current events, as well as analysis of key UK and world news.
