#TLVFormats Conference – Day 1 highlights
 12 Sep 2017
The TLV Formats Conference welcomed over 200 attendees from 20 different countries at its opening day yesterday. The conference hall was packed with people interested in Israel’s latest propositions in the TV formats industry.

The event was opened by a welcoming address from the organizers followed by the Keynote Speech of John Landgraf, Chief Executive Officer, FX Networks and FX Productions, who talked about the future of television and how the industry is changing and why he believes services like FX+ would be key in keeping the traditional TV players in the game when facing the competition of Netflix and the tech giants.

The international attendees were then glued to their seats for over an hour as the leading Israeli companies presented their latest formats. First off, Reshet’s VP of Content, Erez Ben Harush, revealed the channel’s plans for the start of its 24/7 broadcasts in November. Among its proven hits, the net will offer a bakery spin-off of Game of Chefs, revive Got Talent and launch the local version of The Wall, as TVBIZZ reported earlier. Next up was Armoza Formats’ Head of Sales Sharon Levi who unveiled two brand new formats in their catalog – Back to Life, in which we follow the stories of people waiting for a life-saving donation, and the new dating reality Perfect 10 which mixes dating with the fitness mania. Danna Stern then presented the recently launched yes Studios which makes Fauda for Yes and Netflix. Revital Basel, VP Sales at Dori Media, announced Dumb has been licensed for adaptation in Germany and Albania and is also in development for a US remake. Assaf Gil, CEO of Gil Formats, talked about the success of Platonic & Pregnant. Kelly Wright, VP Distribution and New Business, closed the session by showcasing several new shows in Keshet International’s catalog - Masters of Dance, interactive quiz Domination, the upcoming Israeli series Commandments and the Keshet US crime skein The Brave.

After that, the creators of Fauda talked about the huge success of the series around the globe and later a panel discussed the problems of making comedy in modern days.
