CEETalpa Studios sells another reality format to RTL Hungary
A.S.S. – Anti Survival Show, the reality format from Signal.Stream and John de Mol’s Talpa Studios, has secured its first international commission, Talpa Studios announced at MIPCOM on Monday.
RTL Hungary has ordered a 12-episode local adaptation, set to be produced in May 2027 at the format’s international production hub in Greece. The deal follows the format’s successful Dutch debut and recommission for a second season on NET5 in the Netherlands, Kijk.nl and Belgium's streaming platform Streamz. Alongside its European expansion, A.S.S. – Anti Survival Show is also making moves in the U.S., where B17 Entertainment is developing an American adaptation. The production company plans to pitch the format to U.S. broadcasters and streaming platforms, bringing its comedic take on survival reality to the American market. RTL Hungary has now become the first international broadcaster to join the production hub in Greece. The hub is now opening up to broadcasters worldwide, offering a proven format with an established production setup for local adaptations. Peter Kolosi, Chief Content Officer, RTL Hungary: “We are very proud of our recent successes with local adaptations of Signal.Stream’s highly innovative formats, distributed by Talpa Studios. The second season of Most Wanted has just concluded in Hungary with great success, and Catch Us is already in production as we head into MIPCOM. We are really happy to extend our partnership with A.S.S., another modern and exciting format.” Wouter van der Pauw, founder of Signal.Stream: “We created A.S.S. to turn the traditional survival genre upside down. It's not really about surviving on a deserted beach. It's about what happens when you put twelve larger-than-life personalities in a competition where luxury is always within reach, but never guaranteed. After its success in the Netherlands, we're excited to take that unique mix of reality, comedy and competition international. With Hungary on board, a production hub in Greece and development underway in the US, this is just the beginning.” Sebastian van Barneveld, Director Global Distribution at Talpa Studios: “The first international commission is an important milestone for A.S.S., but what makes the format particularly attractive is its flexibility. With both a stripped daily version and a weekly, story-arc-driven version, broadcasters can adapt the format to their programming needs. Combined with our international production hub in Greece, which offers a high-quality, cost-efficient production setup, we’ve created a strong proposition for the international market. With interest growing across multiple territories, Hungary is an exciting first step.” RELATED
